For nearly six decades, the New York Film Festival has brought the cinema’s most talented actors, directors, producers, and other industry professionals together with film fans from across the world to recognize the year’s most extraordinary achievements of the silver screen. This year, from Friday, September 27, through Sunday, October 13, you too can join the thousands of celebrants who will congregate at various locations across Lincoln Center to learn, laugh, weep, and be forever transformed by hundreds of film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, and other one-of-a-kind events at the 57th Annual New York Film Festival. The festival’s Opening Selection, The Irishman, reunites all-star ensemble Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro under the incomparable direction of Martin Scorsese in an American crime drama of extraordinary narrative nuance and pathos. The Centerpiece Selection, Marriage Story, directed by Noah Baumbach, stars Adam Driver and Scarlett Johannson as a man and wife traversing the hilarious and heartbreaking terrain of an embattled love that endures even through the tribulations of divorce and a contentious custody battle. The Closing Night Selection, Motherless Brooklyn, written, directed, and produced by Edward Norton, reimagines Jonathan Lethem’s best-selling novel as a richly textured 1950s neo-noir that deftly explores the defining racial tensions of the era.
