At the Lotte New York Palace, we believe strongly that the ideals of beauty, elegance, and inspiration can be fully realized only when one takes a culturally and historically expansive view of the world. From January 24 through February 2, thousands of art and antiques enthusiasts will come together to do exactly that at the 66th annual Winter Show, the nation’s leading antiques event, at the Park Avenue Amory on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Seventy-two of the world’s finest vendors will set up breathtaking displays, each designed to be a uniquely stimulating aesthetic experience. Displays are usually built around a single historical era. Interspersed from other periods are pieces that relate to those of the primary era via some crucial element of design, whether shape, color, subject matter, aesthetic theory, or otherwise. This 10-day extravaganza of fine and decorative arts, which the New York Times hails as a “galaxy of colliding worlds,” also has a philanthropic purpose: proceeds from general admissions and special events will go to the East Side House Settlement, which works to empower underserved and economically-disadvantage communities in Northern Manhattan and the Bronx.
