Keeping it Green at The New York Palace

Through our efforts to modernize The Palace, we wanted to keep the environment in mind and challenge ourselves to find new, eco-friendly features to include in the renovations. The green upgrades will benefit both the hotel and our guests by helping to reduce our collective carbon footprint, and will include features such as low-e technology for our windows that helps regulate guestroom temperatures.

In addition, The New York Palace is a Green Key Certified hotel currently holding four Green Keys. The Green Key Eco-Rating Program is a rating system designed to recognize hotels and resorts that are committed to improving their environmental and fiscal performance. The program focuses on five operational areas of a property and covers nine areas of sustainable practices.

The Green Keys represent our industry leadership and commitment to protecting the environment through wide-ranging policies and practices.

Over the past three years, we have established and maintained our certification through various green features such as our energy management system, recycling program and LED lighting.

Energy Management System

This new system was installed in the hotel to manage all of the mechanical equipment. The system performs with the other machinery and ensures that the equipment is running on the most efficient settings, so that unnecessary power and energy is not used.

Recycling

Currently, we implement a hotel-wide recycling program, ensuring that all plastics, cardboard, papers and other biodegradable and compostable products are recycled to lessen our carbon footprint.

LED Lighting

In a previous post, we outlined our new lighting installation. In addition to creating the perfect lighting for our guests, our newly installed lights reduce energy usage.

Presently, we are in the process of incorporating other eco-friendly features throughout The Palace. Stay tuned for more eco upgrades!
